This painting was based on a poem I wrote in the 1980s so I really feel it is a crossover between Past and Present work.

Birds land with out-stretched claws
Flowers vibrate and scream.

A frozen child
Hands out-reaching
Eyes seaward
Erect on the rock of a sandy beach,
Wild water edging inwards and upwards
Soon to engulf, then uncover, lay bare and abandon.

The birds escape in the wind, eyes blinded
There and then gone: there but never there
Leaving behind them their pérfume.
